Hyderabad: 4 cops suspended for fraud

According to officials, around two weeks ago, a cricket betting racket was bust by the Special Operations Team sleuths at Medipally.

On the eve of the IPL fixture in Hyderabad, police have identified persons who were caught betting on cricket earlier.

Hyderabad: Four cops, deputed to the Special Operations Team of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, were suspended on charges of siphoning off the amounts seized from cricket betting gangs at Medipally.

Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat issued orders suspending sub-inspector Satyanarayana, head constable Shamshuddin, and constables Tauseef and Srinivas. Though the orders were served on Monday, the issue came to light only on Thursday.

According to officials, around two weeks ago, a cricket betting racket was bust by the Special Operations Team sleuths at Medipally. They had nabbed seven persons involved and seized Rs 80,000 cash from them. Meanwhile, the suspects approached the Commissioner claiming that the sleuths had seized a much higher amount from them.
