Kurnool: A 25-year-old woman set her two children, aged 4 and 5 years, on fire and attempted suicide at her home in Masidpuram village near Yemmiganur.

According to police, Narsimhulu and Padmavathi were agricultural workers. They had two sons Sanjay, 4, and Manoj, 5. The couple used to quarrel over the issue of migrating to Bengaluru.

The police said that Narsimhulu was planning to go to Bengaluru alone, but his wife Padmavathi objected to his plan and said they would come along with him.

When the husband could not convince her, in a fit of rage, Padmavati poured kerosene on her sons who were asleep and set them on fire. Later, she attempted suicide by dousing with kerosene and setting herself on fire.

Neighbours who heard their cries rushed into the house and shifted them to Yammiganur hospital where the two children died. Padmavati sustained severe burns. Police registered a case and started investigation, rural sub-inspector Ramasubbaiah said.
