Hyderabad: Rider drunk, friend killed

Hyderabad: Drunk driving by an intermediate student claimed the life of his friend, who was riding on the pillion seat, at Dundigal early on Friday. The duo had consumed liquor and was heading to a function, police said.

The rider has been admitted to a private hospital and is stated to be out of danger.

The Dundigal police said Mohsin Hussain, 21, an engineering student, and his friend Nikhil, 18, an Inter-mediate second-year student, residents of Suraram, drank alcohol and left on a bike. At around 12.45 am on Friday, Nikhil who was riding the bike rammed it into a statue on the Om Janda Colony road.

Hussain received critical injuries. He was taken to the Gandhi Hospital where he died.

Nikhil’s blood samples have been sent for testing to determine the blood alcohol content.
