Interstate MDMA peddlers from Mumbai arrested

The police of the three commissionerates issued guidelines for New Year's Eve events to managements of star hotels, pubs, restaurants and other commercial establishments holding events on the day.

HYDERABAD: In a joint operation, the Hyderabad District Probation Excise Officers (DPEO) and Jubilee Hills police busted an interstate drug racket and arrested three members of a gang from Mumbai and seized 45 grams of MDMA from their possession.

The accused were identified as Gulshan Khan, Ahmed Abdul Rehman Ansari and Mohammed Rizwan. The three members of a Mumbai-based MDMA peddler gang were apprehended after a three-kilometer chase by 14 Hyderabad District Probation Excise Officers (DPEO) and Jubilee Hills police. The accused, Gulshan Khan, who was on DPEO radar was spotted at around 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday night at Jubilee Hills Road 36. While the officials were trying to detain him, the accused managed to flee and run towards Raidurgam road, where he was apprehended. Gulshan Khan was found with five grams of MDMA by DPEO and a Jubilee Hills inspector of police. During questioning, the accused revealed that he was from Santacruz West in Mumbai. Gulshan revealed the names of his co-accused who were waiting for him on Raidurgam road. The DPEO also arrested Ahmed Abdul Rehman Ansari of Bandra East, Mumbai, and Mohammed Rizwan of Santacruz West, from whom police seized 40 grams of MDMA packed in eight sachets from their Maruti Suzuki Ciaz car parked near a supermarket in Raidurgam.

DPEO officials said that during interrogation, the trio admitted that they planned to sell the contraband to their customers due to the high demand for MDMA in Hyderabad. Drug peddlers are using social media, particularly Instagram, to get customers, sellers, and buyers, according to Hyderabad DPEO officials.  Property worth Rs 13 lakh, including the car, was seized, and the accused was produced before a court on Thursday.
