Hyderabad: Ex-cop, MLA candidate held for extortion

The accused used to offer fake job opportunities to jobseekers by assuring them that they have top contacts with judicial officials.

Hyderabad: Rachakonda Special Operations Team (SOT) officials on Thursday apprehended an ex-constable from Andhra Pradesh and a contested MLA candidate on charges of cheating innocent jobseekers under the pretext of providing government jobs in tribunal, judiciary and other legal departments.
The accused were identified as Yerra Hari Krishna, 30, ex-constable of AP Special Protection Force (APSPF) and Palwai Venu, 48, a businessman, who had contested for MLA candidature  from Thunga-turthy, Andhra Pradesh.

The accused used to offer fake job opportunities to jobseekers by assuring them that they have top contacts with judicial officials and political leaders. 

“Hari Krishna used to take money from the vcitims by showing his APSPF identity card while P. Venu would misuse his contested MLA candidacy to lure victims,” the police said. They told victims that they would provide them jobs without any entrance examination and interview in the legal department. In return, they extorted huge amount of money from the victims.

On credible information, the sleuths of SOT, Rachakonda, apprehended the accused at LB Nagar and recovered '8,000  along with forged documents, which were handed over to  the Vanasthalipuram police.
