Bengaluru: Cab aggregator Ola is once again in the news, thanks to the high handedness of one of their drivers.

In the latest incident, an Ola cab driver allegedly assaulted a passenger, threw out the luggage of the family and forcibly ended the trip in the middle of the road over a trivial row.

To add to the misery, the couple was refused help by the traffic policemen present at the spot. He allegedly said, “The matter is between you people, please sort it out,” and chose to be a mute spectator.

The incident took place on last Sunday while the family was returning home from Kempegowda International Airport.

The victim, Nikita Kapoor, took to social media to share her ordeal. She said her Ola ride went horribly wrong after her husband asked the driver to follow rules and not use mobile phone wihile driving. Nikita had booked a ride from the KIA to her home and was accompanied by her husband Sachin and two children. The cab driver, identified as Prakash, allegedly turned off his mobile data and took a wrong route. The matter turned ugly when the driver was questioned by Nikita and her husband.

Narrating the ordeal, Nikita said, “When we learnt that he has taken the wrong route and when we tried to question him, he told that it was the only route from airport.” She further stated that she decided to keep quiet after realizing that they were travelling on a deserted road. Later the driver allegedly started speeding and began talking over the phone. Her husband asked him to follow the rules and slow down, but he did not pay heed. When the family requested the driver to stop the car, so that they could change the diaper of their infant , the driver allegedly switched off  the air conditioner.

Nikita further shared, “We moved little ahead and asked him to stop the car wherever he can so that we can change our infant daughter's diaper. When he was requested to switch on the AC till they got a space to park, Prakash began abusing us. He stopped the car and the ride abruptly. He then told us to get out of the car in the middle of nowhere, he forcefully started taking out our luggage.”

She further narrated in her post, “I ran to the nearby traffic policeman for help and when Sachin tried stopping him from throwing our luggage he starting physically attacking him. He held his collar and started hitting him. All this happened in the presence of three traffic policemen!”

She said that after witnessing all this commotion her five-year-old son and infant daughter started howling and crying out of fear. When no one turned for help, the family had to take shelter at a nearby showroom and it was raining. After repeated attempts to book another cab, finally, we managed to reach home.”

The police have registered a complaint  and begun investigation.
