Madurai: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High court directed the Local Planning Authority (LPA) to take appropriate action by issuing notice to ‘Saravana Selvarathinam’ stores in Madurai for violation.

The court issued this direction based on a petition filed by advocate Subramanian who stated that the commercial complex had been built in violation of the plan app-roval issued by LPA.

The public prosecutor told the court that the inspection conducted the by the LPA officials recently revealed the following violations- the store was running jewel shop in the place marked for vehicle parking in plan approval, and the eighth floor which was marked for providing toilet facilities for the visitors, was used as office rooms.

The LPA has already issued notice to the commercial complex asking them comply with the plan rules within 30 days or else they would seal the building. Recording the same, the court asked officials to submit action taken report and posted next hearing to September 24.
