Hyderabad: Man, 60, molests minor girl, bashed up handed to police

Hyderabad: A sexagenarian who attempted to sexually assault a seven-year-old girl was apprehended by the Jawaharnagar police on Saturday night.

According to the police, the victim, 7, a Class II student, stays with her mother, at her maternal grandparents’ apartment in Balajinagar after her parents separated. The accused, Venkataiah, 60, stays in the adjacent house.

Late on Saturday evening, the victim was playing in front of her house when Venkataiah approached her and took her with him to his terrace. Soon, locals living in the adjacent building noticed that he was touching the girl inappropriately.

Venkataiah attempted to escape from the scene after the girl began to scream. The locals managed to arrive just in time and cornered him. They tied him up to a pole and thrashed him after which, they handed him over to the police.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, a case was booked against Venka-taiah, who will be produced before a court for judicial remand.
