Class 8 student kills himself inside classroom in Piduguralla of Guntur district

Mr Dayanand said the boy might have committed suicide due to depression.

VIJAYAWADA: Allegedly upset with the constant quarrelling of his parents, a Class 8 student committed suicide by hanging in his classroom in Piduguralla of Guntur district on Saturday.

Piduguralla sub-inspector D. Ravidra Babu, said the student, M. Ashok Kumar entered the school with a saree, tied it to the hook of a slab on the ceiling and committed suicide.  The SI said the boy was depressed due to the frequent quarrels between his parents and family disputes over properties. The family stays in a house in front of the Mandal Parishad High School.

Kumar’s cousin M. Dayanand lodged a complaint with the police who rushed to the spot, conducted an inquest and shifted the body to the Gurazala area government hospital for autopsy after registering a case.

Mr Dayanand said Kumar’s father M. Chinna Kantha Rao was an alcoholic and the couple had frequent quarrels over this. There were also disputes over division of properties with other relatives. Kumar had appealed to his father several times to shun liquor but in vain. The father and son had quarrelled several times, he said. Mr Dayanand said the boy might have committed suicide due to depression.
