Hyderabad: Police apprehended three persons for the murder of a 30-year-old man in broad daylight on Sunday in Jiyaguda and they are being questioned by the task force and Kulsumpura police. Police identified the trio only as Akash, Tillu and Sonu

The victim, Jangam Sainath, of Amberpet, was attacked with sharp weapons in full public view on Sunday evening. His body had over 20 deep cuts to the face, neck, back and chest, the police said, adding that a cut to the chest was over three inches deep.

The police said that they suspect the murder was due to an illicit relationship that Sainath was in.

Sainath’s death has left his family in limbo, as he was the sole breadwinner. He refused to get married as he had to take care of his elderly parents and sisters, while supporting the studies of his younger brother.

His mother, Bhagyalaxmi, said that he left home for work on Sunday saying he would return home soon. “He would work on Sundays too, without taking rest,” she said.

She said that her husband, Swamy, was bedridden due to paralysis, an older daughter was divorced, and the other daughter recently lost her husband. None of the family members was aware of the reason for the murder.

The victim’s body was handed over to the family on Monday, after a post-mortem examination.
