Hyderabad: Man held for matrimonial fraud

The accused was identified as Phani Kumar Ramisetty, a real estate businessman and a resident of Bandlaguda.

Hyderabad: Cyber crime police nabbed an online matrimonial fraudster on Friday for cheating a victim in the pretext of marriage and later threatening to upload her personal pictures online, hence making her deposit Rs 96,900. 

The accused was identified as Phani Kumar Ramisetty, a real estate businessman and a resident of Bandlaguda. 

A complaint was received on September 15, from the victim residing at  Kukatpally, stating that she has a profile in shaadi.com in November, 2016 where she met this guy. 

He introduced himself as Phani Kumar Ramisetty, an MBA graduate, doing business in Hyderabad and showed interest in marrying her. She believed in him and he enticed her to deposit an amount of Rs 96,900. 

When she stopped giving him money, he became rude and threatened her and her father to pay an amount of Rs 10 lakh to him and blackmailed them by threatening to post her photographs on social media sites. 

 The accused was identified with call data and bank account details and was arrested on Friday.
