Bengaluru: Sharath was a motorbike enthusiast and sadly he met the tragic end because of this love for sports bikes. The kidnappers, who were aware of his weakness for bikes, laid a perfect trap to kidnap him by telling him that they had a Benelli bike worth Rs 6 lakh and asked him to try it.

“He was very passionate about bikes, especially sports bikes. That’s why he joined the diploma in mechanical stream. Since childhood, he had a fascination for speed bikes and he used to collect photographs of such bikes. He also regularly browsed the internet to keep himself updated on the latest models of sports bikes. He used to collect miniatures of high-end bikes too,” Sharath’s uncle Chandru told Deccan Chronicle.

His parents had gifted him a Royal Enfield Classic 350CC Bullet. “It was to be delivered on Sept. 10, but came only on September 12, the very day he was kidnapped and murdered,” said a teary-eyed Chandru.

Sharath was on cloud nine on the day he got the brand new Bullet. “He was so happy that day. He had bought sweets from his pocket money. Before leaving to show his new bike to his friends, he had offered us sweets. But little did we know that he was never going to come back,” a neighbour said, adding that Sharath was a very good boy and regularly interacted with his neighbours.

Nagalakshmi, the domestic help who is staying with Sharath’s family, is shocked by the unexpected event. “He was very good boy and never treated us badly. He never interfered in our work and did not lose his temper even once. His father was strict, but also showered him with love.”

The principal of the high school where Sharath studied also visited the house and remembered Sharath as an active student. “He was intelligent and was good at studies. There were no complaints against him even when he was in school. It’s very sad that he met such a painful end.”
