Bengaluru: SUV tyre bursts on NH-75, three killed, two injured

Preliminary investigation revealed that three of them died on the spot, as the SUV was moving at a good speed.

Bengaluru: In a freak accident, three people were killed while two sustained grievous injuries while their SUV's tyre burst on the National Highway-75 in Thigalarapalya in Kudur Police station limits in Rural Bengaluru, on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Rakshan (23), Ujjwal (24), and Harish (23), all residents of Hoskerehalli in Bengaluru and they were working nearby, the police said. Eight others escaped with minor bruises.

A senior police officer said that accident took place while a group of 13 people was going to Nagamangala in Mandya district from Bengaluru. 

According to police, the Scorpio vehicle left Hoskerehalli, to attend a friend's wedding, at about 10 am on Wednesday. When the SUV reached near Thigalarapalaya, around 2 pm, the rear tyre burst.

As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle and subsequently toppled. It dragged for a few metres before coming to a halt. 

Preliminary investigation revealed that three of them died on the spot, as the SUV was moving at a good speed.

Passersby informed the police and rushed to the help of the victims. They called for ambulances and shifted all the injured to BGS hospital.

Three of them were declared brought dead, while two were admitted to the ICU. 

Kudur police have registered a case and are investigating. The families were informed who rushed to the hospital.

A police official privy to the probe said that no further details could be divulged as they were awaiting the family members to approach them on Thursday.
