HYDERABAD: With the arrest of four persons, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Cyberabad’s Shamshabad Zone claimed to have busted an inter-state milk adulteration racket operating between Kurnool of Andhra Pradesh and Nagpur of Maharashtra. Police seized one milk tanker carrying 9,000 litres of milk, empty tins, and vehicles to transport them from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, SOT sleuths under the guidance of DCP (SOT) Rasheed, inspector K. Satyanarayana raided an open place in Thondupally village and nabbed four persons.

Inquiries revealed that the milk was collected from different parts of Kurnool, filled in the tanker, and transported to Nagpur where a local supplier would buy it. En route, the tanker driver Gundala Venkanna made a plan with a Medchal-based middleman Shekhar.

As per their plan, Venkanna would stop the vehicle at some isolated place, from where the milk is drawn into small tins and then transported as per the instructions of Shekhar. Further, water and other substances would be mixed in the tanker. Along with the tanker, two more pick-up vans and 83 tins each measuring 40 litres were seized.
