Drunk man tries to molest biker in Hyderabad
Victim says she had stopped her vehicle at a red light.
Hyderabad: A drunk man attempted to molest a 19-year-old girl in the middle of the road at Neredmet in broad daylight on Wednesday.
Sheik Saleem, 31, who was passing by in an autorickshaw, initially made cat-calls at the victim who was riding a bike. When she did not respond, he tried to drag her into the autorikshaw.
A traffic cop posted at the junction and other witnesses captured Sheik Saleem and handed him over to the Neredmet police. The victim, a B.Tech graduate from Yapral, said that she had stopped her vehicle at the red signal at Neredmet crossroads alongside an autorickshaw.
She said that suddenly, the man started harassing her. He allegedly used some abusive words too. Then, in a jiffy, he caught hold of her hand, and started pulling her towards the autorickshaw. She screamed for help and passersby rushed in.
A traffic constable was around, and the people handed over the man over to him, said D. Praveen Babu, an eyewitness. The crowd also handed over the autorickshaw driver to the police, saying that he was colluding with the accused.
However, the police said the autorickshaw driver was not aware that his passenger was drunk and had no role in the offence. Sheik Saleem works in a meat shop and is a resident of Hanuman Nagar in Maula Ali.
Police booked a case against him for outraging the modesty of a woman under relevant IPC Sections. Sheik Saleem was produced in court was sent to judicial custody.
