Shivamogga: Two held for chain snatching

Several complaints of chain-snatching, bike thefts and other cases had been reported across the city.

The Hulimavu police have arrested nine people who had assaulted a retired Sikh army officer's family.

Shivamogga: The Shivamogga police have nabbed two people associated with an Irani gang for thefts, chain-snatching and dacoity cases at various police station limits in and around the city.

Police Superintendent Abhinav Khare said here on Wednesday that the arrested have been identified as Mohammad Kambar (30) and Hasan Azam (27).  The police have also arrested two more bike lifters and four dacoits.

He said that over the last three months, several complaints of chain-snatching, bike thefts and other cases had been reported across the city.

The SP also informed that the stolen items include gold ornaments weighing 225 gram (worth Rs 6 lakh)  and bikes used for committing thefts had been seized.

In another case, two juveniles were nabbed for allegedly lifting 10 motorbikes in the Jayanagar, Tunganagar and Vinobanagar police stations limit, he said.

Under the Rural Police Station limits, four people were arrested for robbing a person of cash and mobile phone. 

The arrested had been identified as B. Manju (29), Bharat (19), Sumant (19) and Bhagyaraj (19).
