Telangana: Husband's joblessness kills wife

Hyderabad: A 29-year-old housewife committed suicide by consuming an unknown poison at her house in Thumkunta on Wednesday.The deceased, Sri Ram Rajita, was the wife of Raju. The couple had two kids, a girl, 13, and a boy, 9.

“Rajita was depressed due to her husband’s unemployment and irresponsibility. He used to roam aimlessly, refuse to come home or take responsibility for his family,” said sub-inspector K. Ravi. The couple used to stay with Raju’s parents in an apartment at Thumkunta.

“She was also troubled by her in-laws who used to ask her to move out as they cannot take care of them,” added the  sub-inspector. Rajita was depressed by her family’s worsening finances, the constant harassment from her in-laws, her husband’s irresponsibility and ended her life by consuming and unknown poison at home on Wednesday. Shamirpet police registered a case under Section 498 (harassment) of Indian Penal Code.
