BENGALURU: Kishore, the 22-year-old accident victim who was allegedly denied treatment at two hospitals, was celebrating his birthday on Saturday. He was on his way to his hometown to meet his wife, who is eight months pregnant, and to give her sweets, when he met with the accident.

Kishore, who is undergoing treatment in the ICU at Nimhans for head injuries, is still unconscious, The doctors have told his family members that it would take another 2-3 days for him to regain consciousness.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, his father, Raju, said that Kishore had finished work and was heading to Bagalur near Chikka Tirupati, where his wife, Archana, was staying with her parents.

“He lived in Nandini Layout with his mother. As it was his birthday on Saturday, he had told his wife that he would come at night after work. The mishap occurred while he was at  Arehalli Cross. It’s a notorious road and a couple was killed in an accident at the same spot a month ago. The road is really bad.”

The accident took place on Saturday night around 11.30 pm. The staff of Anugondanahalli shifted him to Vydehi Hospital in Whitefield.

“I am thankful to the police who took care of him in our absence. Unfortunately, the hospital staff were heartless and they did not even give first aid to my son. He was taken there at 12.30 am and till 9.30 am on Sunday, he was not given treatment. The staff at the hospital reportedly told the police that none of the family members of the victim were  there and refused treatment, not knowing on whose name the expenses should be billed,” he alleged.

Then the police took him to Victoria Hospital, where Kishore was given first aid and referred to Nimhans as he had sustained head injuries. “Even there, the policemen were apparently told that they did not have an X-Ray and CT scan machine. How can anyone believe it? With no other option, the police took him to Nimhans at 3.30 pm, but he was not treated till 7 pm,” he alleged.

“I saw him twice today (Monday) and the doctors have said it will take a few more days for him to recover,” Mr Raju, an agriculturist, said.
