Hyderabad: Toddler run over while playing in front of house

After the incident police immediately used CCTV footage from nearby cameras to track the vehicle and nabbed Amzeed.

Hyderabad: A 14-month-old girl was run over by a mini-lorry on Thursday evening and the Chandrayangutta police nabbed the accused driver of the vehicle within three hours of the accident.

The baby was identified as Ameera Bawazir, 14 months old. Police said the toddler was on the road in front of her house in the evening at about 5.15 pm when the incident occurred. Chandrayangutta inspector Koteshwar Rao said, “The accused driver, Mohammed Amzeed, 30, of Moghalpura drove the vehicle (AP12 V 5078) drove in a rash manner and ran over the girl. Ameera suffered a head injury and died on the spot. The driver fled from the spot.

Police immediately used CCTV footage from nearby cameras to track the vehicle and nabbed Amzeed. Police registered the case under Section 304(a) and handed over the baby's body to  her family after the postmortem examination at Osmanian General Hospital.
