Hyderabad: Bhashyam bus driver booked for molestation

Hyderabad: The driver of a bus ferrying children of Bhashyam School at Alwal was booked for molesting a six-year-old girl student following a complaint from the child’s parents on Thursday evening.

The victim is a Class I student of Bhashyam School in Surya Nagar.

According to the Alwal police, the victim is a Class I student of Bhashyam School in Surya Nagar in Alwal who travelled on the bus to and from school. The driver of the bus, Santhosh Kumar, 33, used to misbehave with her, touching her inappropriately and also used to call her a dwarf. The child complained to her parents, who on Thursday brought the matter to the notice of the school management. After an inquiry, the management promised to terminate the services of the driver and brought in the police.

The police said that initially the parents were apprehensive about making a complaint, but finally did so at about 5.30 pm. Santhosh Kumar has been charged with ‘outraging the modesty’ of the child. He has also been booked under relevant sections of the POCSO Act.

He has been taken into custody for questioning, but the police did not confirm that he has been arrested.
