Anantapur: Lenders tie up woman for failing to clear loan

A complaint was registered by the family members of the boy, Abdul Aziz Khan, who was mercilessly beaten up by the teacher in the school.

Anantapur: A woman was allegedly tied to a tree and beaten up by her husband and residents of her colony for taking hand loans and failing to repay the same in Rajendranagar area of Adoni in Kurnool district.

The issue came to light on Thursday. Sources said that Jammakka, alias Yellamma, lived with her husband Jammanna and seven children.

She had borrowed over Rs 2.5 lakh from different persons, including a cloth store. She fled from her home 10 days ago, being unable to clear her debts.

Her husband Jammanna was angry with his wife and nabbed her on Wednesday and took her home.

There, with her husband’s help, the moneylenders tied her up to a tree and beat her up for cheating people.

Jammanna alleged that his wife also took away silver and gold from their house.

She was released after other residents intervened. Jammakka alleged that another person took money from her and fled from the town
