Nellore: Police on Thursday arrested two brothers for allegedly murdering their stepmother, their father’s first wife. The accused hacked the woman to death during broad daylight on April 16, 2022, police said.

The accused have been identified as Dasu Vamsi alias Vinni, 21, and Dasari Nitheesh Kumar alias Sanni, 19, of Sarvepalli village in Venkatachalam mandal.

According to Nellore Rural DSP Y. Harinath Reddy, Dasari Sivaiah, father of the accused, had married one Golla Chinnamma of Veguru village in Kovur mandal 24-years-ago. They got separated two years later because of some family disputes. Sivaiah married another woman Madhuri of Jangamdoruvu village in Indukurpeta mandal in the year 2000 and the couple was blessed with two sons, Vamsi and Nithish.

Trouble started when Sivaiah re-established his contacts with his first wife Chinnamma and started visiting her frequently. There were heated arguments between Sivaiah and his sons on the issue. Some family elders intervened and tried to pacify them but in vain.

Vexed over the situation, Vamsi and Nithish went to Veguru on a bike and allegedly hacked Chinnamma to death around 8.30 am on April 16, 2022.

Based on a complaint from the relatives of Chinnamma, Kovur police led by CI K. Ramakrishna Reddy and SI D. Venkateswar Rao booked a case and apprehended the duo near the railway gate at Sarvepalli village on Wednesday.
