8 Maoist couriers, sympathisers held in Mulugu

Warangal: The Venkatapuram police on Monday arrested five Maoist couriers and three sympathisers during a vehicle checking drive on the outskirts of Ramachandrapuram village in Venkatapuram mandal of Mulugu district. The police seized explosives including detonators, Cordtex wire, iron parts, battery and eight mobile phones, a car and a two-wheeler along with the revolutionary literature and medicines from their possession.

Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police Gouse Alam said that the five Maoist couriers were identified as Ande Ravi, 39, Sriramoju Manoj, 30, Dhidi Sathyam, 50, Sriramoju Bikshapati, 53, and Anasuri Rambabu, 52, and the three sympathisers are Ghanapuram Chandramouli, 51, Ande Manasa, 34, and Ghanapuram Pruthvi Raj, 24.

The arrested persons revealed that they were working as couriers to the proscribed outfit which was led Chandranna and Damodar, said the police, who registered a case against them under various sections.
