Hyderabad: Raghupathi, 25, a farmer from Perikampalli in Vikarabad district, allegedly kidnapped a Class X girl belonging to a tribal community and raped her in his car on February 15. The incident came to light after the girl lodged a complaint in Yalal police station on Monday.

Raghupathi's parents are senior leaders in the BRS and his mother is the village sarpanch.

Police said the victim was returning home from school on February 15 when Raghupathi intercepted her and forced her into his car. He drove her to an isolated location, assaulted her and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone.

She fell ill after that. Noticing her changed behaviour, her parents questioned her and the girl then told them about the assault.

Police said Raghupathi was absconding.
