A 32-year-old man murdered his differently abled elder sister at their residence in Palavanthangal on Thursday night after an argument.

Vijayawada: An extramarital affair is believed to be the motive behind the brutal murder of an eight-year-old girl who was found with her head smashed at Penugranchiprolu on Wednesday.

According to sub-inspector M. Naga Durga Prasad, the body of the girl, identified as Vemula Eswari, was found behind her resident in the early hours of Wednesday.

Upon investigating, the police zeroed in on Vemavarapu Maneesh as the prime suspect in the murder. Police believe that Maneesh took Eswari while she was asleep in her house along with her father Krishna and mother Dhanalakshmi.

S-I Prasad said that it was suspected that Dhanalakshmi was involved with Maneesh and the girl might have seen them together.

“She may have been killed as Maneesh believe her to be a hurdle to the affair,” he said.
