Bengaluru: Woman found murdered in lodge

The incident came to light on Tuesday evening when the staff sensed foul smell emanating from their room and alerted the hotel manager.

Bengaluru: A 31-year-old woman was found murdered with her throat slit in a lodge on Tuesday night in Upparpet police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Renuka, a native of Hassan and wife of late Ramesh. The couple was residing in Kolar and Ramesh died due to illness few years ago.

The police said that the accused, Shankar, 37, checked into the lodge in Majestic on last Saturday along with Renuka and registered themselves as a couple.

The incident came to light on Tuesday evening when the staff sensed foul smell emanating from their room and alerted the hotel manager.

The staff knocked the door several times, but did not get any response. The hotel manager then alerted the police.

After reaching the spot, the police opened the door using a duplicate key and found her lying dead in the pool of blood.

The hotel staff told police that the two had gone out for shopping on Monday morning and after they returned Shankar left the room at night and did not return.

Investigation revealed that Shankar had befriended Renuka and the two were living together. Shankar was previously jailed for murdering his wife. On Monday night, Shankar left the room along with his belongings. Upparpet police have registered a case.
