Hyderabad: A mobile phone snatcher was caught red-handed by the public at Anandbagh in Malkajgiri on Sunday. His aide however managed to escape.

At about 12 pm on Sunday, two unidentified persons travelling on a motorbike tried to snatch a mobile phone from a pedestrian at Anandbagh crossroads. Alert locals chased and caught one of the suspects, while the other fled from the spot.

The locals thrashed the accused and asked him to call his aide and ask him to return. However, it did not work, and they handed him over to the police. A patrolling team reached the spot and the suspect was taken in for questioning.

Malkajgiri inspector A. Man Mohan said, “One person was caught for attempting to snatch a mobile phone. The accused would be produced in court on Monday and a team has been formed to nab his aide.”
