Kingpin of Inter-State Chain-Snatching Gang Held, Gold Recovered

 Kurnool: The Nandyal police have apprehended a kingpin involved in inter-state chain snatchings and have recovered 28.8 tolas of gold ornaments and a motorcycle from his possession.

The arrested person has been identified as Arbaaz Ali Irani, a native of Bhusawal town in Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, the police said.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Nandyal SP K. Raghuveer Reddy revealed that the accused headed a chain-snatching gang that targeted women, particularly those walking, shopping near malls, vegetable markets, bus stations and other locations. “They focus primarily on women and girls. This gang, consisting of at least four to five members, was active across various regions in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra,” the SP said.

However, the Nandyal police, who had registered cases against this gang, apprehended Arbaaz at Prathama Nandi temple in the town while he was attempting to assemble his team members. The kingpin has been involved in 16 cases, including five in Nandyal division, three in Dhone, four in division and another four in Anantapur division, according to the police.

Nandyal DSP C. Maheswara Reddy and other officials were also present.
