Woman dies, man critial in suicide pact in Visakhapatnam

VISAKHAPATNAM: A man and a married woman, suspected to be friends, attempted suicide by consuming harmful chemical near a railway track at Sattivanipalem of Pendurthi in Vizag city on Saturday. The woman died while the man is battling for life in a hospital.

The deceased was identified as Konathala Hema, a resident of Vizag city, and her male friend is K. Kumar, a resident of Kota Narava in Anakapalli district. Doctors said Kumar’s condition was critical.

The police said that Hema was a married woman and has two children. After being separated from her husband, she started living in Sattivanipelam along with her children. Sources said recently she developed relationship with Kumar.
The police are yet to establish the relationship between Hema and Kumar and the reasons for taking extreme step. A case has been registered and the investigation is on.
