Chennai: 10 sovereigns snatched from 2 women in a day

Similarly, two bike-borne men snatched a two-sovereign gold chain from Saradha (50) of MGR Nagar in Puzhal when she stepped out to dump trash in front of her house on Friday evening.

Chennai: Unknown chain snatchers had snatched 10 sovereigns of gold chains from 2 women at two locations, on Saturday. One of the victims Meghala, a widow and a resident of Vadapalani, was returning home after worshipping at Sai Baba Temple.

“When she was crossing Arunachalam Salai, two persons on a two-wheeler snatched her 4 sovereign gold chain,” the police said. Based on the complaint from Meghala, Vadapalani police have registered a case and are investigating.

In another incident, a bike-borne duo snatched 6 sovereigns of gold chain from an elderly woman a few metres away from KK Nagar police station. The victim Chandra (67) was returning home on PT Rajan Salai after a morning walk at Sivan Park when the incident happened. Based on her complaint, KK Nagar police have registered a case and are investigating.
