Jewellery theft accused went towards Srisailam

HYDERABAD: Police said on Sunday that driver R. Srinivas who made off with Rs 7 crore worth jewellery and his employer's car last week, had abandoned the vehicle at an isolated place near a highway and fled on a two-wheeler on.

It is suspected that Srinivas had gone towards Srisailam on a bike.

Police found that after the theft was reported, some money was deposited into Srinivas' bank account and a small amount was withdrawn from an ATM. Police suspect that Srinivas withdrew the money for his expenses.

Police accessed the CCTV footage from the ATM kiosk and were verifying images from nearby cameras. A senior official expressed the hope that Srinivas would be nabbed on Monday.

Police said that whenever Srinivas' employer, Sri Radhika Jewellers, sent out out jewellery for delivery, the driver would be accompanied by two sales executives. On the day Srinivas stole the jewellery, there was only executive who had gone away to display samples to a prospective customer.
