Hyderabad: Hours after celebrating her eighth wedding anniversary, a 28-year-old housewife allegedly committed suicide at Malkajgiri. Police said M Nagalakshmi jumped from the balcony of her fourth floor apartment on Sunday night. Her husband M Ramesh and daughter were sleeping in the flat when she took the extreme step, said police.

According to police, Nagalakshmi who hails from Guntur district, married  Ramesh eight  years ago. They were residing in Malkajgiri along with their five-year-old daughter Mokshanjali. Ramesh was a Senior Analyst for an MNC at Hyderabad, while Nagalakshmi was a  housewife.

On Sunday, they completed seven years of  marriage. To celebrate their wedding anniversary, they went to a nearby temple, offered special pujas and returned home. After dinner at home, Ramesh and the child went to sleep, while Nagalakshmi was browsing through some videos on her mobile phone.

Next morning, when Ramesh woke up, he did not find Nagalakshmi beside him and searched the whole house. When he tried to come out from the flat, he found that it was locked from outside.

He then called his neighbors, who opened the door. He continued searching for her along with the watchman, till he came down and found Nagalakshmi lying dead on the ground. Her parents were immediately informed and police were also called.

Police suspect that she could have jumped from the balcony of their flat on the fourth floor. SI Manmadha Kumar from Malkajgiri said that so far there are no suspicions of foul play behind the death and the woman did not even leave behind a suicide note.

“She was very normal on Sunday, but what forced her to take such an extreme step, is to be probed. Based on her father Achaiah’s complaint, a case under section 174 CrPC has been registered. Based on the autopsy report and other evidence, the investigation will proceed.” said the SI.
