The man accused of the crime is a painter who lives at BC Colony in Parigi. On Sunday, at around 10.30 pm, he noticed that the little girl, who lives in the same colony, was alone outside her home. He took her away into the bushes nearby and raped her, and then dropped her back home.

The girl’s family saw her bleeding and after talking to her realised she had been raped and lodged a police complaint.

A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been booked against the accused and he has been remanded to judicial custody. The girl has been sent for medical examination and will be given counselling, said the police.
