Four security personnel, including two CRPF personnel and two Uttar Pradesh Police personnel, have been arrested after a 24-year-old woman alleged that they abducted and gangraped her at a farmhouse in Amroha.

A CRPF inspector met her in Sonepat, went with her to Meerut, joined up with a colleague and subsequently two policemen, all of whom allegedly took turns to rape her in a farmhouse in Amroha, police said, the story of assault spanning two states, two days and the personnel of two security forces. The four men -- a sub-inspector and a head constable posted at the Hasanpur police station in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district, and a sub-inspector and a head constable of the Central Reserve Police Force -- have been arrested, police said on Wednesday, a day after the crime.

The 24-year-old woman contacted police around 6 am on Wednesday, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Lakhan Singh Yadav.
The farmhouse where the alleged incident took place reportedly belongs to an independent MLA from Uttarakhand. Police have questioned the manager of the property and further investigation is underway, officials said.
According to the woman's complaint, it all began on Sunday, September 20, when she was contacted by a woman friend who asked her to meet CRPF's Inspector Mohit to visit religious places in Amroha.
The following day, the two met in Sonepat, Haryana, and went to Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, about 70 km away. On the way, Mohit was joined by his colleague, CRPF Head Constable Lalaram Yadav, the complaint says.
On the evening of September 22, the two men allegedly took the woman to Hasanpur in a car and picked up Sub-Inspector Sanjay Tomar on their way. The trio then took her to a farmhouse on the Atrasi-Hasanpur road, where they rented two rooms.
Uttar Pradesh police's Head Constable Pramod arranged food and liquor for the group. Later in the evening, Mohit, Yadav and Tomar allegedly took turns to rape the woman. Pramod then entered the room and attempted to assault her too, but she pushed him out, locked the door, and searched online for the police helpline number, the complaint says.
"Police received information late on September 22 or in the early hours of September 23 that a woman was being allegedly forced into sexual activity. A police team immediately reached the spot, secured the woman and recorded her statement," SP Yadav said on Thursday in a fresh statement.
All four accused were arrested soon after and are being questioned.
"Based on the victim's complaint, an FIR has been registered against the four accused under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abduction or enticement and gangrape," Lakhan Yadav said.
"Whatever role of each person emerges in the investigation, legal action will be taken accordingly and they will be produced before the court," he said.
Departmental proceedings have been initiated against the local sub-inspector following his suspension and a report has been sent to senior CRPF authorities, recommending strict disciplinary action against the two paramilitary personnel, he added.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was amongst those who reacted to the incident. He said in a social media post that when governance is based on crime, the police force also becomes corrupt.
The incident, he said, is a "stain" on the police force that no amount of patronage can erase. The former chief minister also demanded "historic action" in the matter. While CRPF's Mohit is a resident of Saurang village in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, Lalaram Yadav is from Alwar in Rajasthan.
