Probe team to hold crucial meet today.

Dileep had been granted bail after 85 days on incarceration.

Kochi: The Special Investigation Team probing the actress  assault case will  hold a crucial meeting on Thursday  to consider  arraigning actor Dileep as the first accused in the supplementary chargesheet expected to be submitted next week.

“Pulsar Suni had no prior grudges against the victim.  If a person is planning a crime and instigates someone else to commit the crime for his benefit, then the responsibility falls on the person who is benefiting from the crime. Hence,  there is a possibility to name Dileep  as first accused,” said a senior police officer associated with the probe.

“The drafting of the chargesheet is in the final stages but we can’t say the same will be submitted this week-end as we still await certain results which are crucial for listing out new evidence  not revealed so far. The meet will discuss all the aspects regarding the case,” he said.

The initial chargesheet filed by the SIT had  enlisted Pulsar Suni aka Sunil Kumar as the first accused and Dileep is currently the 11th accused in the case. Except for Charley, who provided accommodation to Suni and his aides in Coimbatore, the others were booked with charges of kidnapping, rape and criminal conspiracy among others under sections 120(b), 342, 366, 376, 506(1), 212, 201 and 34 of IPC and sections 66E and 67A of the IT Act.

The SIT is also likely to enlist Charley as an approver in the additional chargesheet in which it would list out scientific evidence and also the witness statements from over 20 persons from the film industry separately. However, the cops are yet to recover the mobile phone used to shoot the alleged sexual assault  on February 17 last inside a car in Kochi.
