35-year-old gets lifer for raping minor

 Hyderabad: A 35-year-old man on Wednesday was sentenced to life imprisonment and penalised Rs 5,000 for abducting and raping a minor girl from near her house in Keesera in May 2022.

Malkajgiri Metropolitan Session Judge R. Raghunath Reddy issued the directions.

The convict, who is a daily wage labourer, abducted the girl, raped her and dropped her near a general store in Bandlaguda on May 31.

On a complaint lodged by the girl’s parents, the police arrested the man and remanded him to judicial custody.

A case under sections 363, 366 and 276 (AB) of the IPC and Section 5 (m) of the POCSO Act was registered.
