Two, Including a Widow, Killed in Separate Incidents in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Two persons, including a 24-year-old widow, were murdered in separate incidents in the city.

Ayodha Maheshwari, who was brutally attacked by her in-laws at her house in Imamguda, Pahadi Shareef on October 2 succumbed in a private hospital here on Wednesday.

According to Pahadi Shareef police Maheshwari had recently lodged a complaint with Ibrahimpatnam police against her in-laws, who were threatening to get her 3.3 acre land registered in their names.

On October 2, Maheshwari’s mother in-law A. Lakshmi and sister in-law M. Sarita called her to Imamguda stating that they would settle the dispute. The moment Maheshwari went there, they thrashed her badly, police said.

Maheshwari was self-employed and was married to Ayodha Sunil Kumar in 2016. Five years later, in 2021 Sunil died due to ill-health. After Sunil’s death, Maheshwari managed to get her husband’s land registered in her name.

Police registered a case of murder and dowry harassment against the accused under section 302 ipc AND 498 (A) DP Act. The victim’s body has been shifted to Osmania general hospital for postmortem.

In a separate case, a 40-year-old beggar A. Sailu, who was attacked by unidentified people at Jubilee Hills crossroads Tuesday night succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment in Gandhi Hospital in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to Jubilee Hills police, Sailu was begging at the check-post when the assailants attacked him with sticks. They fled after he fell unconscious.

Later the locals who knew his mother Narsamma informed her. She rushed to the scene. They shifted Sailu to Gandhi hospital, where he died in the early hours.

Police have registered a murder case and are making efforts to identify the accused.
