Kakinada: Taking inspiration from the DISHA provisions, the police investigating the Kada Devika murder case filed the charge sheet against accused Gubbala Suryanarayana, 27, in seven working days.

As per the case, Suryanarayana murdered Devika between Karapa-Kandregula villages under Pedapudi police station limits on October 8. Kakinada rural circle inspector Srinivas investigated the case and filed the charge sheet before principal junior civil judge’s court in Kakinada.

Gubbala Suryanarayana and Kada Devi were in love, but their elders did not accept their marriage plan. Later, when the elders accepted the proposal, the girl refused to marry him. Angered over this, Suryanarayana hacked her to death. The locals rushed to the spot and called in the police, as per the case diary.

The Kakinada SP Ravindranth Babu led the police action against the accused under the DISHA regulations. The police took evidence from 27 persons and took hold of evidence like knife, acid bottle, chappals, the girl’s chunni, hairs, blood, blood strains on the accused etc, which were sent to the forensic lab and got back the test results within a week.

Police said those who sold the knife and acid have given their statements and all the witnesses have made their statements before the magistrate. It is learnt that the accused bought the acid to consume it after killing the girl, but before doing this, he was caught hold of by the locals.
