MLA Kalpana stood by her stand stating that patta lands to be distributed to the 52 persons, and the excess land to be distributed to the landless poor

Vijayawada: The rift between the revenue officials and Pamarru MLA has widened, in connection with the sand mining in patta lands in Pamidimukkala mandal.

On Wednesday night, MLA Uppuleti Kalpana has reportedly summoned the tahsildar and told him to distribute the 255 acres of ‘no man’s’ patta lands to the poor suggested by her. To this, the tahsildar has categorically said he can’t act against the law.

Meanwhile, Pamidimukkala tahsildar C. Victor Babu held a survey, with the help of assistant geologist (Mines), and found violations in the de-casting of sand in ‘no man’s’ patta lands of Lankapalli village.

“We have provided the details of violations to the Pamidimukkala SI in the form of a complaint and an FIR has been filed against an individual in the village,” tahsildar Victor Babu told this paper.

When contacted, MLA Uppuleti Kalpana said the land has to be distributed to 52 claimants of the land, as per the Adangal. She also urged the administration to distribute the left over excess land to landless poor.

In fact, AD-Mines K. Subrahmanyeswara Rao said that those erring will have to face criminal action and that PD Act would be initiated against them.

Encroachment into ‘no man’s land’ of the patta lands and de-casting the mud and sand is certainly violation of the Act. “District collector B. Lakshmikantham has directed officials to initiate criminal proceedings against the sand mafia,” the AD-Mines said.

Speaking on the same, Pamarru MLA Uppuleti Kalpana admitted that she has spoken to the tahsildar over the representation of 52 persons who have their names in Adangal.

“After giving away the patta lands to them, I asked the Pamidimukkala tahsildar to distribute the excess land to the landless poor,” the MLA added, and clarified that she urged the tahsildar to go for a re-survey and distribute the lands accordingly, if found justified, as per Law.

However, the MLA is tightlipped as to how the distribution of patta lands is possible, once the case is pending in the court.
