Raid: 3 arrested for selling fake coal to firms

According to police, the trio was mixing original coal with ash coal and supplying it to industries.

The police said the stolen bikes have been recovered following his arrest and he was sent to judicial remand.

Hyderabad: The L.B. Nagar Special Operations Team conducted a raid and arrested three people for supplying fake coal to industries on Tuesday and sei-zed a lorry loaded with coal, an empty lorry, a JCB, about 250 tonnes of loose coal and other apparels used for the coal extraction process from their possession. The accused were Mohd Yusuf,35, lorry driver J. Sekhar, 30, who is also lorry driver, and P. Sevya Naik, 25, JCB operator.

According to police, the trio was mixing original coal with ash coal and supplying it to industries. "The lorry drivers procured the good quality coal from Khammam for Rs 5,000 per metric tonne on an order to supply it to pharma companies in Bourampur, Chandapur and Medak. Instead of taking the load to the site, the drivers diverted the stock to Satish’s site where he waits with ash coal to mix 75 per cent of coal with 25 per cent ash. This would then be sold to make illegal money.

Based on a tip off, the Special Operations Team of L.B. Nagar raided Satish’s site and apprehended the trio on Tuesday.
