One dead, 15 injured as two buses collide

Anantapur: One person was killed and 15 others sustained injuries when two buses of the same marriage party collided with each other at Chintakunta village in Muddanur mandal in Kadapa district on Saturday. Sources said the deceased was identified as Naga Subba Reddy,45, of Muchumarri in Kondapuram mandal.

Two buses with relatives and friends started from Muchumarri in Kondapuram mandal to attend a wedding function at a temple near Vempalle. When the buses were passing near Chintakunta of Muddanur mandal, the driver of the first bus applied asudden break while another bus driver from the back was unable to control and hit the first bus from behind. In the mishap, Naga Subba Reddy of Muchumarri died on the spot after suffering serious injuries and 15 others in both buses suffered injuries.

The victims were immediately shifted to Jammalamadugu and Kondapuram hospitals. Muddanur police registered a case and shifted the body to hospital for post mortem.
