Telangana: Duo held for cheating unemployed

Katta Rohith, the student from Narsimha Reddy Engineering College who attacked his classmate over a Whatsapp argument was arrested by Petbasheerabad police on Monday.

Hyderabad: Kukatpally police arrested two offenders who allegedly cheated several people under the pretext of providing government jobs and promising allotment of 2BHK houses in the city. The suspect identified as Katragada Sudheer Chowdary, 37, along with another accused Sangala Manahor Reddy, 29, duped around 23 victims and extorted Rs 11,68,500.

A victim, M. Shiva Kumar, lodged a complaint with the Kukatpally police after he realised that he was cheated by the duo. The gang used to show fake government orders to the victims and ask them to deposit a processing fee of Rs 15,000. “We have recovered fake tender sanction copies of the Metro Rail project and one copy of the Government of Telangana letterhead. The accused showed letters from the chief secretary as proof and asked the victims to deposit money. They have reportedly forged signatures of officials and also got the stamp head created illegally,” said Mr N. Bhujanga Rao, ACP, Kukatpally. A case has been registered under Sections 420, 468 and 471.
