Man gets 1-year jail for outraging modesty of girl

HYDERABAD: Nampally Criminal Court on Tuesday sentenced a 37-year-old man to undergo one-year imprisonment and also imposed a fine of ₹4,000 after he was found guilty of outraging the modesty of a girl.

On January 25, 2017, the accused Ritesh Singh, had caught hold of the victim’s hand and used abusive language near his house in Doodhbowli under Kamatipura police station, Sandeep Reddy, sub-inspector of Kamatipura police station said.

Based on the victim’s complaint, Kamitipura police registered a case under 506 and 354 of the IPC against Ritesh and started an investigation.

Observing that the act of holding a girl’s hand and pulling it close amounts to outraging her modesty, the chief metropolitan magistrate of Nampally court D. Durgaprasad convicted and sentenced Ritesh to one-year imprisonment and fined ₹4000.
