Bengaluru: A 56-year-old man, his wife and son were arrested by the Banshankari police for allegedly duping a photo studio owner by promising to get permission to shoot short films on Vidhana Soudha premises.

The accused, identified as Rajesh S., wife Satyabhama (46) and son Anurag, collected a huge amount from Bhaskar Naikar, a studio owner, to get him permission for a shooting, but diverted that money for shooting of a Kannada movie they were producing.

The police arrested the trio 12 days after Naikar lodged a complaint with Banshankari police. In his complaint, Naikar, owner of Gagan Digital Photo Lab, stated that the accused approached him and offered to get video shooting permission at Vidhan Soudha and collected Rs 8.1 lakh from him.

According to the complainant, Rajesh told him that he held a top executive post in Vidhan Soudha and even had a separate room for him inside the building. Rajesh convinced Naikar saying he had contacts with prominent film makers and political leader and could get permission for him to shoot short movies or documentaries.

The amount Rajesh gave it to his son to fund the movie project under the banner "6-the Koota". The accused Anurag is playing the lead role in the upcoming movie. The police said using similar modus operandi the trio have duped as many as 12 people and taken huge amount of money, which they have invested in movies and other projects.
