Bengaluru: In a city where most homes and PGs lack proper security and multiple sex offenders are given bail, making our city even more vulnerable to the ways of the depraved, legal eagles are calling for amendments in laws related to sexual offences and an overhaul of the criminal justice system that allows for multiple sex offenders to be granted bail even after repeated offences.

“There must be a difference in the punishment meted out to a first time offender and the punishment to a second time offender. Repeated offenders should not be granted bail at any cost,” said Pramila Nesargi, a senior advocate and women rights activist, as others called for proper coordination between police and prosecution to ensure that rapists are kept off the streets.
