Hyderabad: Financial crisis turns boxer into chain snatcher

Gold ornaments weighing about 16.5 tolas along with a bike were recovered from the offender.

Similarly, two bike-borne men snatched a two-sovereign gold chain from Saradha (50) of MGR Nagar in Puzhal when she stepped out to dump trash in front of her house on Friday evening.

Hyderabad: A state-level boxer-turned-chain snatcher was arrested by the Central Task force team for his involvement in six offences in Hyderabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates. Gold ornaments weighing about 16.5 tolas along with a bike were recovered from the offender. The Police identified the offender as Kona Narsing Rao, 34, a resident of Shivasainagar of Uppuguda.

“Narsing Rao is a trained boxer and took part in many state-level competitions. In 2006, he discontinued his studies due to financial crisis and worked odd jobs for his family’s livelihood,” said the DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, P. Radhakrishna Rao. He committed 10 offences in the last 7 months.
