Bengaluru: Gang held for luring, robbing men on NICE Road

The accused were allegedly involved in 25 cases.

Bengaluru: A gang of 12 members including a woman, who lured men on NICE Road and then robbed them, have been arrested by the Electronic City police. The accused were allegedly involved in 25 cases.

They have been identified as Saavan alias Babloo, 24, Monisha, 20, Mutthu, 20, Punith, 19, Arun Yesuraj, 22, Stephen Raj, 22, Vighnesh alias Deela, 18, all residents of Begur, Amar, 25, of Doddaballapur, Shanthakumar alias Shantha, 21, of Bannerghatta, Keshavmurthy alias Bhai, 25, of Tamil Nadu, and Deepak George, 21, of R. T. Nagar. Police said that the accused, Monisha, used to stand by roadside on NICE Road and attract passing motorists. When the men approached her, she struck a deal with them and took them to isolated places off the NICE Road, where the other gang members would be lying in wait. They would then threaten the victims with lethal weapons and rob them.

“Several complaints were registered in Electronic City police station in this regard and they have been arrested based on various clues. Investigations revealed, the gang members - Babloo, Shantha, Deepak and Keshavamurthy - were involved in 25 extortion cases. We have recovered valuables worth Rs 15 lakh, including 450 grams of gold, from them,” the police said. “All arrested were addicted to drugs and used to sleep in eucalyptus groves or under construction buildings. They sold stolen valuables to buy drugs,” police added.
