Chamarajnagar: Villagers do not rule out the possibility of mischief behind this shocking incident. According to them, there was a dispute among members of the Kicchgutti Maramma temple in Sullawadi village following which the police have picked up two individuals— Chinnappi, a priest and member of the temple trust, and Mahadeva, a gram panchayat member, for interrogation.

The doctors treating the patients, said that after witnessing the symptoms and their serious condition, they suspect that pesticide could have been mixed with the prasada.

The kind of pesticide used would be known only after post-mortem of the victims and chemical analysis of the food samples.

The cops are in touch with temple trust members to ascertain if there was any dispute among them pertaining to the temple administration.
