Andhra Pradesh: 16-year-old girl gangraped by four youths

Machilipatnam: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by four youths at Velleru village in Krishna district, police said on Wednesday.

The incident, allegedly occurred last month, came to light today after the girl approached police.

As per her complaint, she was returning to the village on cycle when the accused waylaid her to nearby oil palm grove where they raped her, a senior police officer said, adding the youths are residents of the girl's village.

She didn't disclose the matter as the accused had threatened her with dire consequences, he said.

The girl has been sent to government hospital for medical examination. A case of rape is registered and attempts are underway to trace the accused.
