Bengaluru: In a hit-and-run case, a 21-year-old private company employee died on spot after an unknown speeding vehicle knocked down the bike he was riding in Yeshwantpur traffic police station limits on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sharath, a resident of Yeshwantpur and was an employee of a chocolate company in Whitefield.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 11:45 pm, while he was returning home from work. The police said that a speeding unknown vehicle knocked down his bike from behind on elevated road in Yeshwantpur.

Sharath sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

The passersby immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Ramaiah hospital for postmortem.

Yeshwantpur traffic police have registered a case and are examining the CCTV footage from surrounding areas to identify the vehicle.
